Have you heard about the energy transition in Lingen, a German town in lower Saxony? ☢

While 2 nuclear power plants being shut down, in order to supply electricity to the town, a gas-power plant has been built. For the future a hydrogen-power plant is being constructed. To see how this energy transition is going, join the excursion organised by Studium Generale, in cooperation with Ockham and KIVI Students Twente!

On 21st of November, a former nuclear power plant operator, Bodo Schlünzen will explain what it takes to dismantle a nuclear-power plant, and will take you through the gas and hydrogen power plants in Lingen! If you are interested and want more information on the event, click on the link below ☺

You're invited to a talk organized by Studium Generale on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, from 19:30 to 21:00 at the Vrijhof/Amphi, where the focus will be on the future of vertical farming. This innovative method can produce up to 50 times more food in the same space as traditional farming and uses 95% less water through hydroponics.

While vertical farming shows promise for use in urban areas and even deserts, it also faces challenges like high energy consumption and costs. Prof. Dr. Ir. Leo Marcelis, a specialist from Wageningen University, will share insights on these issues and why he believes solutions are within reach.
