SympCie Open Meeting

To give people the chance to see what SympCie does as a committee, and see what it is like being in a committee, SympCie organized an open meeting! SympCie organizes the more informative events that Ockham organizes. They organize things like lunch lectures and tours around the buildings but also are an important part of organizing the plenary sessions. Members were welcome to sit in and given the opportunity to see what they are busy with.

Pub-Quiz SMOTMD

This month during the SMOTMD a fun pub-quiz was held! Four teams competed with each other to show their superior knowledge in various topics ranging from history, to dutch weather facts, to hamster trivia. In the end not only did we have a fun, friendly, competition, we also learned some surprising facts; like the driest month in the Netherlands (rainfall) is April! Who knew?!

ACCIE Atlantis Collaboration

During this collaboration between Ockham and Atlantis (the Study Association for ATLAS) we played various board games in their building. We played games from Catan to Exploding Kittens, or the chaotic and stressful (but nonetheless fun) Captain Sonar. Ending the evening we also finally got to play Scythe, a longer strategy game that was long over-due to be played.

Nature and Mental Health Lunch Lecture

During this lunch lecture we got to learn about the connection between mental health and nature. Have you ever felt awe looking out over the ocean, wide open fields, or cliff for example? Where does that feeling come from, and how does it impact our mental health? Additionally, how can we get positive effects from nature into our cities? Definitely lots of food for thought.

Origami Christmas Decorations

With paper in hand and tutorial on extra slow speed at the ready we were ready to start our origami journey. We made Christmas stars, angels, present boxes, and some other unique creations. With some hot chocolate to warm us up and glue to fix whatever couldn’t be done by folding (shhhhhh) we had a lovely evening of creativity!
